How to choose the perfect light fittings for hotel

Lighting plays a key role in creating a pleasant and safe environment, while enhancing the architectural features of a hotel. It is important to consider both external and internal aspects of lighting when designing.

The external lighting of the hotel should be oriented towards highlighting architectural details such as the façade, columns and balconies. It is also essential to have good lighting in the entrance area to create a sense of welcome, as well as lighting in car parks and pathways to ensure the safety of guests. The use of spotlights, LED strips and motion-sensing luminaires is a common choice for energy efficient lighting.

In the interior of the hotel, adequate lighting should be provided for the different spaces. The reception area, as the guest's first encounter with the hotel interior, requires bright and inviting lighting. Public areas such as corridors and lobbies need pleasant and safe lighting, while restaurants and bars are often lit with more ambient light sources to create a pleasant atmosphere. Guest rooms should offer flexible lighting to allow relaxation and work.

Pendant lights are perfect for the reception area, where they illuminate the counter and highlight the central part of the room. They are also used in a dining room or restaurant over tables to create an intimate and cosy atmosphere, and in bars to accentuate the bar counter.

Ceiling lights are ideal for corridors, where they provide even illumination and allow guests to find their way around easily. They are also indispensable in hotel bathrooms for effective room lighting and in conference rooms, where they provide a suitable working environment.

Standing lamps are found in lobbies and lounges, where they create pleasant, ambient lighting that promotes relaxation. In rooms, they are often used by reading nooks or bedsides, where they provide soft lighting without the need for stronger light.

Table lamps are indispensable on bedside tables in hotel rooms, as they allow guests to read or use the lighting without turning on the main light. They are also important on desks where they provide directional light for work, which is particularly important for business guests.  They are also often used on dining tables in hotel restaurants, where they create a pleasant and personal atmosphere during the meal.

The chandeliers are the main decorative element in the hotel lobby, creating an impression of luxury and prestige. Their use in banquet halls and restaurants adds a touch of elegance and a festive atmosphere, enhancing the overall guest experience.

In addition to functionality and aesthetics, the energy efficiency of lighting is also important. The use of LED luminaires and smart light management systems such as motion sensors and timers not only reduces energy consumption but also extends the lifetime of light sources.

Through careful lighting design, a hotel not only fulfils its functional role, but also contributes to the overall guest experience and the aesthetic appeal of the property.
