How to choose the perfect light fittings for your hallway and staircases

Hallway lighting plays a key role in interior design, ensuring the safety, functionality and aesthetic appearance of a space. When planning the lighting of corridors, several factors need to be taken into account, such as the type of luminaires, the positioning, the light temperature and the luminaire power. Ceiling luminaires, either conventional ceiling luminaires or recessed luminaires, are a common choice for corridor lighting as they illuminate the space evenly. In addition, wall lights positioned at eye level are a great addition as they create a pleasant ambient light and at the same time accentuate decorative elements. LED strips hidden in ceiling corners or under stairs add a modern and elegant touch, while ensuring safe movement in the corridor.


It is important to choose the right light temperature, which should be between 2700K and 3000K, giving a warm and pleasant feeling. We also need to consider the wattage of the luminaires to ensure sufficient light without over-lighting. Dimmer switches are recommended as they allow you to adjust the brightness according to your needs and the time of day. By lighting the corridor correctly, we can create a pleasant and functional space that connects the different parts of the home and at the same time improves its overall aesthetics.

 

Safety is particularly important when lighting a staircase. Here it is advisable to use a combination of different lighting fixtures, such as wall lights and LED strips installed under the edges of the stairs. This will ensure good visibility of each step, reducing the risk of trips and falls. Additionally, we can install luminaires with built-in motion sensors that automatically switch on when motion is detected, which is practical especially at night. A properly lit staircase not only increases safety but also improves the visual impression of the room. With the right combination of different types of luminaires and careful lighting planning, corridors and staircases can be created that are both functional and aesthetically sophisticated.
