Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni's wacky idea of turning the ceiling lamp upside down spurred the creation of the unconventional Taccia table lamp.
It immediately became a hit in design history due to its inimitable shape and style, and over the years, Taccia has become a true ambassador of the Flos company's cultural identity and values.

Achille Castiglioni described the design in an interview in 1970: "When we designed it, we certainly didn't have prestige in mind, we just wanted to create a cooling surface to dissipate heat."

The lamp stand was actually designed as a radiator to emphasize its function: dispersing the heat emitted by the lamp itself. Its signature blown glass beaker reflector was also an outstanding masterpiece. Like all great models, the Taccia has evolved and embraced progress over the years.

The pioneering model boasted an LED light source. It was soon followed by a model with a plastic reflector, which was the original intention of the designer duo. LED technology, which was initially impossible to incorporate due to thermal deformation, solved this issue. The Taccia was also launched in a smaller size and various colour combinations.

Due to an ongoing collaboration with Fondazione Castiglioni, the Taccia lamp is currently available in a completely new matte white color that promotes the purity of the shape and design. Flos has once again recreated a masterpiece for modern times, but with the utmost respect for the original. The story of Taccia continues.
