Meticulous craft
Luce Orizzontale is a state-of-the-art sculptural lamp by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec that subtly blends poetry and functionality. An interlocking glass modular structure of this new pendant lamp is distilled into a stunning, minimal lighting solution that truly showcases craft in its most modern form.
The revolutionary pendant lamp Luce Orizzontale was the centrepiece of the ambitious Flos Bespoke project launched by the Bouroullec brothers. The lamp plays with the uncustomary light reflection from cast glass elements. In addition, it is fully recyclable, reflecting Flos' commitment to sustainable development. Luce Orizzontale is an illustrative example of the Bouroullec brothers' innate ability to fuse highly-skilled artistry, technology and simple design.
The lamp's core is an aluminum rod with two LED light sources which supports thick glass tubes, directing the light from the lamp upwards and downwards. A system mounted on one end of the rod dims and regulates the lights separately and provides maximum functionality.
This handmade lamp Luce Orizzontale is not only minimalistic and striking, but it also boasts a modular configuration and greater versatility by structures that enable hanging at different lengths. You may illuminate the entire length of the dining table or place it in parallel rows to exert a profound effect.
"
It's not technically glass," explain Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, "but an ever-changing material, almost alive, with aluminium cut-outs inserted. The result we wanted to achieve was precise, but also changeable and lively."
